As the sun started to go down I had the sense that the sky during sunset was going to be amazing. I made my way to a place I had never visited before. No one was there. The sky was turning brilliant colors and a Great Horned owl swooped in just as I arrived, and landed at the top of a tall, dead tree. I felt like I was getting a glimpse at a secret world. I had never seen an owl in the wild before, it was a magical moment. He stayed in the tree for quite some time, looking around. He was quite large and seemed like a wise keeper of the world I had entered. This space was very serene. The only sound were the geese calling out as they flew overhead in small groups, their calls echoing in the cold air and wide open space.
If you look closely you can see the geese through the tree branch silhouettes.
The owl at the top of the tree in the center.
The ice aglow with pink light.
Preparing to take flight.
