Canoe Trip to Kapawi Ecolodge

Tree line along the river with red flowering flame tree standing out among a crowd of green.

As we rode in the canoe down the river, my first deep breath of air was so refreshing.  Breathing the fresh, moist air made my lungs feel so good, and it smelled so good too, almost tasty.  Breathing here was so relaxing.

The shore along the river was lined with trees.  No piers, no buildings, no litter--just green.  Rather than the air traffic of planes I am used at home, we observed the flight of a variety of birds.  Without the booming planes and hum of the highway that is well known in the modern world, it was easy to hear the sounds of the wildlife all around.

Arriving at the lodge

The lodge rooms, resembling a typical Achuar home (jea), made out of wood, lianas, a type of vine found in the forest, and palm leaves.
