Capahuari River and Kapawi Ecolodge at Sunset

The rainforest was generally quite peaceful during the day, besides a few loud monkeys here and there.  But once sunset came, the whole world started to come alive with sound.  On this page you will find photos of the rainforest and river as the sun starts to set, and the videos will provide a sense of what it is like to experience the rainforest coming alive with the sounds of thousands of creatures.

Rainforest sounds, river flowing quickly

*Be sure to turn up the volume on the videos to hear the sounds more clearly.
There is a lot going on in the background. See how many different voices you can identify.
What might they be communicating?

There is a sense of purity and comfort
standing at the river's edge,
surrounded by trees,
with the water flowing steadily by,
gently playing with the reflection of the
slowly changing colors of the
clear, vast sky above.

The sky; a constantly changing masterpiece,
giving definition to the outlines of the immense variety of plant types.
Patterns of leaves, unique to each species,
creating rhythms for the visual composition of the scene.
